First steps in Milano for MarShon Brooks, who arrived at Malpensa airport along his mom, Darlyn. The new shooting guard will pass the physicals and the athletic tests while waiting for the training camp to start. The first surprise was the number: until last year his favorite number 2 was forbidden in Europe but not now. “In high school I used to wear the number 11 but when I went to Providence the number belonged to Geoff McDermott who was a junior. I asked him for the 11, but he said ‘no way’. So I thought 1+1 equals 2. With that number I went to the NBA. Now it’s my number”, he said. Brooks explained that “this new experience is very exciting. I think it’s an opportunity to become a better player. I couldn’t improve in the NBA since there’s no time to really practice over there with 4 or 5 games per week. I think this is an opportunity to practice more and to really improve”.
