Zalgiris prevailed over Olimpia 83-78, the second period was lethal

Olimpia game up short in Kaunas, losing 83-78 after a real battle. Milan had a terrific first quarter, led it as many as seven points in the second but then lost control, rushed some shots and in a matter of a few minutes fell down by 11, nine at the half. In the second half it recovered its flow and refused to lose, forcing Zalgiris to struggle in order mantain a lead that was reduced on several moments at one or two points. Vlado Micov, who had a 12-point second half missed the three to tir the game. But overall Olimpia was plagued by too many little mistakes including eight missed free throws, a couple of lay-ups or unforced turnovers although the final number of nine was acceptable. “We were short of players and our shape in general is not good enough to comeback in Kaunas from a double digit margin. We had a solid game for 36 or 37 minutes but those few minutes in the second killed us. We lost the flow and took many shots after one single pass. That was crucial”, Coach Simone Pianigiani said at the end.
