After a very close first half, when the leads never exceeded five points, Olympiacos took the game over in the third quarter, scoring 31 points and effectively closing it. “When the raised the level of intensity, we didn’t match it at all, we’ll have to analyze why that happened,” Coach Ettore Mssina said at the end of  a 91-70 loss in Athens. Olimpia succumbed inside (37-23 the rebounding difference), couldn’t make up with its normally good three-point shooting (6 for 19 this time), and the defense was not there for many parts of the game. Fouls were also a factor, because they hit many players and Olympiacos was capable to take advantage of them, by earning an 11-point margin in terms of free throws made. Olimpia had only three players in double digit, but had also a season-low eight assists. It was a second half to use as a learning lesson in a tough night. “The game was decided early in the third, we came back down by one after the first two possessions, then they raised the intensity level and we disappeared. It’s not who we are, look at the record, but we need to understand why this happened,” Coach Messina said again.
