Olimpia survived its fifth game in nine days prevailing 76-75 over Vanoli Cremona and stayed unbeaten in the Italian league with eight wins in eight games. Olimpia, playing without Nemanja Nedovic and Amedeo Della Valle one more time, forced to be without Arturas Gudaitis too, was passive at the start, went down by as many as 12 points and had to play catch-up for more than two quarters. In an outstanding third-period effort, turner a six-point halftime deficit into a commanding 11-point lead inspired by a dominating performance by Kalb Tarczewski. He scored 15 points, was perfect from the field and from the line. He single-handedly controlled both ends of the floor before sitting late in the third with four fouls and fouling-out for good in the fourth. “We couldn’t run, only walk because the energy level was so low. That’s why we wanted to ride Kaleb in the middle. We’d have like to have Gudaitis too. He was too fatigued, I couldn’t take any chances”, Coach Simone Pianigiani said at the end. In the fourth, Cremona responded every time Milan seemed to lead for good. A eight seconds violation gave Mathiong the chance to regain the lead with 7.7 seconds left. After the time-out, Mike James drove to the middle and was fouled with 3.3 seconds remaining. He made both free throws. Cremona had one last chance but Olimpia was able to allow only for a long three by Ricci that was way off the mark.
