It’s 71-59 Olimpia in the Supercup semifinals against Brindisi. EA7 Emporio Armani struggled a little bit in the second period, finished the half up by one and then took off and got away in the third because of the lethal Alessandro Gentile-Linas Kleiza combination. Gentile was scoreless in the first half but took control of the game in the second, impacting even the rebounding battle. Kleiza had a terrific game. Olimpia rode Joe Ragland’s threes in the first, had a lot of energy from Nicolò Melli, Daniel Hackett and Angelo Gigli. MarShon Brooks struggled a little bit both ends of the florr but grabbed seven rebounds nonetheless. Coach Luca Banchi had to play with no Shawn James (sitting on the bench) and also David Moss, because of a knee contusion very painful and to be re-evaluated tomorrow. A great defensive second half and a better execution offensively made the difference. Now it’s on to the next: the final against Sassari, at Sassari, on Sunday at 8.15 p.m.
