Olimpia shrugged off a cold shooting night and defeated Reggio Emilia 89-78

Olimpia dominated the boards 50 to 34, dished 23 assists, and in spite of shooting the ball without enough consistency over the course of the game, kept Reggio Emilia at a distance on its way to a 89-78 win. Olimpia led for most of the night, with a brief exception early in the third, then in fourth quarter, struggled to score, even on many open shots, but kept the game in its hands because controlled the rebounds and the defense, in spurts, managed to resist. “In spite of poor shooting percentages, we managed to score 89 points, had 23 assists, we moved the ball, our transition offense was good, the guys stayed determined throughout the game against a well-coached and tough opponent. Some of our players were really good tonight,” Coach Ettore Messina said. Five players scored in double digit, Vlado Micov added eight assists to his 14 points in spite of being a little cold from the outside (he was 1 for 6 from three, missed also three throws. Luis Scola had 14 points too, Kaleb Tarczewski fought early foul trouble to score 11 points and he grabbed 12 rebounds, too. Jeff Brooks added 10 rebounds.
