The derby belonged to Olimpia because of a commanding third period when it allowed Cantù to score only 10 points turning a 4-point halftime deficit into a 14-point lead. Cantù with a terrific offensive game by JaJuan Johnson, Pat Calathes and Tremmell Darden kept coming back shrinking Olimpia’s margin to six. But EA7 had all the answers. Kruno Simon tied his personal best in the Italian league with 26 points but he wasn’t the only one making damage to the Cantù’ s defense. Zoran Dragic set the tone early, Jamel McLean had a third period full of energy and in the end Mantas Kalnietis took control with a couple of decisive plays. In the end Olimpia won 85-79 overcoming Sanders’ absence and Hickman early foul troubles.
