First things first. Please let’s pray for Arturas Gudaitis: he had to leave the game in the second quarter on a stretcher with a serious left knee injury that will be re-evaluated in Milan. Olimpia had to overcome a record-number of obstacles to get the win in Gran Canaria, 106-104 after an overtime. After losing Gudaitis, Milan lost immediately Christian Burns, too, with a minor sprained ankle. The shock generated a second quarter of confusion and nervousness after a promosing start. Gran Canaria with a barrage of three-pointers especially from the incredible Marcus Eriksson, took control and Olimpia also had to deal with a technical foul called on Mike James. The point-guard started the second half with three fouls and fouled-out with five minutes left in regulation. Even without its leading scorer (22 points and six assists), Olimpia found a way to win, riding a terrific debut by James Nunnally (22 points) and a unreale Vlado Micov show in the second half on his way to score 24 points. Gran Canaria made terrific threes down the stretch while Olimpia played a lot of small ball, with Jeff Brooks (eight rebounds and a inspiring defensive game) acting as a center, with Cinciarini fighting and Kuzminskas who was ice-cold from the line, making all of his 10 free-throw attempts (a career-high).
