For the first time, Olimpia lost at home. Red Star Star took the game over in the middle of the second quarter and controlled it pretty much to the end, winning 87-79. The biggest lead was 12 points in the fourth quarter. Olimpia had immediately a 6-0 run, but on the ensuing possession, Corey Walden made two free throws and the comeback was dead. Olimpia had a couple of good run in the second half, but it was unable to sustain the effort. Overall, struggled to control the boards and 50-50 balls. Red Star made the right plays in the most critical game’s juncture. Four players scored in double figure for Olimpia and the EuroLeague leading scorer, Jordan Loyd, scored 17 efficient points, but Milan was not consistent enough at both ends of the floor. “They were more solid than us, we started the game well but we lacked some energy and our defense had too many ups and downs throughout the game – Coach Ettore Messina said at the end – Probably, reinserting two key players like Malcolm Delaney and Kevin Punter forced us to redistribuite minutes, shots, responsibility, it’s something that we paid for tonight. But it’s a game and we need to prepare for the next”. Vlado Micov scored 13 points in his second game back from the elbow injury, Kevin Punter added 10 points and in his first EuroLeague game this season his effort was good, Sergio Rodriguez added five assists to his 11 points, Zach LeDay scored in double figure too. But Red Star shot well (53.3 percent from three) and domintaed the boards 28-15.
