Olimpia came up short and probably deserved more in a 85-86 loss against Olympiacos. With a terrific fourth quarter Olimpia took a 3-point lead twice following a 14-point fourth period by Arturas Gudaitis (19 and 10) but a couple of bad calls, a three-point play by Jamel McLean and finally a missed last shot led to a very frustrating loss in spite of a great outing against one of the best team. Olympiacos came to Milan with the best defense in the League but Olimpia found many ways to score, dictated the tempo and defended well for the most part. Tarczewski with his aggressiveness inside eliminated Milutinov from the game and grabbed 10 rebounds. Olimpia was punished by details, bad luck and three-point shooting. “Se executed the game plan perfectly – Coach Simone Pianigiani said at the end – but we came up empty. That’s disappointing because this is another game we deserved to win probably. A couple of little mistakes here and a couple of admittedly bad calls there cost us the game. The key going forward is to make sure we take those losses the right way in order to improve on silly mistakes and not like they are missed opportunities”.
