Olimpia closed its preseason with a 76-63 loss in Paris, against ASVEL Villeurbanne, led by the strong play of its guards. Elie Okobo and Chris Jones combined for 33 points and David Lighty and Antoine Diot performed in spurts. Olimpia’s shooting percentages were too low, below the 34 percent line and the turnovers were 18, many of them unforced. On top of that, Olimpia earned just eight free throws for the night. On many different junctures of the game, Milan looked on the verge of taking control, but consistency prevented it. An 18-point deficit was almost canceled in the fourth quarter, when a couple of Troy Daniels’ bombs reduced the margin to three points. The same happened earlier in the game. Consistency was absent on Sunday and ASVEL had a lot of athleticism and size going for them. Basically, all the players had their good moments, but not enough. Next in the schedule, the quarterfinals Supercup game against Treviso on Saturday in Bologna.
