Olimpia Milan chose the Laureus Foundation to activate a new social endeavor together with the Baroni School from the Gratosoglio neighborhood in Milan. This initiative is part of the One Team project, promoted by the EuroLeague. The new project started on October 6 and will finish during the month of January.

Developed by Laureus Italy, the project is involving a sports psychologist as a tutor. Her job is to support OIimpia’s coaches during a sequence of practices to be hold between October and January. The desired goal involves both the emotional aspect and the physical aspect of the single person. Laureus will try to educate the participants in order to make them understand the relevance of respecting rules and to communicate with other participants and adults as well.

With the school boys there will be exceptional coaches like Hugo Sconochini, an Olympic gold medalist and a former Olimpia player, and Amedeo Della Valle, a first-year EuroLeague player who’s also the One Team Ambassador. The students will also attend the Bayern Munich game that Olimpia will play at home in December.

The Baroni School was not a casual choice. That institute is located in a difficult Milan’s neighborhood where economic and social problems are huge. Gratosoglio is a place were lack of integration determined a lot of daily tensions between locals.

That’s why Olimpia, very active and present in the southern part of Milan, and Laureus Italy supported the institute in an initiative with a strong international flavor, in order to raise awareness about the area potential from a social standpoint.
