This press release to inform the decision made by Olimpia Milano’s President Livio Proli to leave the position in the hands of the actual General Manager Flavio Portaluppi.
This is Mr. Proli’s statement:
“After six year, because of professional obligation I have inside the Armani Group, I have to leave the position of Olimpia’s Milano President. I’ll be replaced in the position by Flavio Portaluppi and I know the club is in good hand. He’ll be supported by Simone Casali in his new General Manager’s position, by Filippo Leoni in the team manager capacity and Claudio Limardi, confirmed as head of the Marketing and Communication dept.
The values and the cultural ethic developed by the Olimpia’s management staff while chasing the championship are so strong now that the changes are just part of the natural evolution of the club and an improvement.
I want also to clarify that Mr.Armani’s enthusiasm and determination are still intact, so he’ll continue to efficiently support this Olimpia’s project long-term.
For me personally it’s an hurtful decision but I’m comfortable knowing that a great professional, a serious man and an authentic Olimpia’s product is now in the driver’s seat.
I wish all the best to him, to Coach Luca Banchi with his energy and passion, to the great Captain Alessandro Gentile representing all the players, to all the Olimpia family members. I really hope the championship just won will be the first of a long winning ride in order to fuel the passion and enthusiasm of our fans and all the basketball supporters.
Finally I want to thank Mr. Giorgio Armani for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime and many thanks to all the people who, maybe indirectly, allowed me to know and appreciate this fantastic sport which should be a great communication and business tool for a consistent growth.

Let’s Go Olimpia For Ever”
Livio Proli
