It could have been a nightmare but Olimpia turned it into a huge night. Playing without Stanko Barac, EA7 lost Alessandro Gentile in the middle of the second quarter and with a short rotation used all its heart and soul to win over Trento 83-79 overcoming a six-point deficit in the fourth because of a terrific defensive spurts during the last six minutes of the game. Olimpia overcame also a 30-point impressive game by Julian Wright. The blue-collar worker Bruno Cerella and Daniele Magro helped immensely. Magro grabbed 8 rebounds and was on the court anchoring the defense when Olimpia was down in the fourth. Cerella applied ball pressure on Peppe Poeta first and Toto Forray later disrupting Trento’s flow on offense. The resta was done by a double double game by Milan Macvan. who scored 13 points in the first half and made two huge consecutive threes late in the game keeping Trento at distance. Kruno Simon scored 20 points also. “It was a difficult game for many reasons – Coach Jasmin Repesa said – Trento is a good team with a lot of physicality, we had to hide Magro a little bit because Wright is quicker and we used the zone for six possessions. With such a short rotation after losing Gentile, too, I was worried. Now we need to thank our guys because they played with a lor of heart and courage to win this”.
