Olimpia Milan announces that Mr. Ettore Messina today became “President of the Basketball Operations” and head coach of the team for the next three seasons.

Born on September 30, 1959 in Catania, Messina comes from the San Antonio Spurs, where he’s been an assistant to Coach Gregg Popovich for the past five seasons. During his career, he coached Virtus Bologna, Benetton Treviso, CSKA Moscow and Real Madrid, as well as the Italian national team.

Ettore Messina has twice been named coach of the year in EuroLeague (2006 and 2008), has won the EuroLeague four times, the Italian championship four more times, six times he won the Russian title, three times the VTB League, seven times the Italian Cup , twice the Russian Cup, 11 times he led his team to the EuroLeague Final Four. Its record in EuroLeague is 220-77, 74.1% of wins.

Furthermore, starting on July 1st, Mr. Pantaleo Dell’Orco will become President of the club’s Board of Directors.
