Sergio Rodriguez is the first player of the month in the EuroLeague. The Olimpia Milan point-guard in October led the team to a record of 5-1, with five wins in a row, averaging 16.2 points per game over 28.1 minutes of playing time. El Chacho also is converting 44.1% from three, made 20 free throws out of 21 (95.2%) and is adding 5.5 assists per game. He also gave a historical sense to his performances, because in sequence he surpassed the threshold of 200 career steals (he is now in 18th position in the all-time ranking), of 2,500 points scored and reached Milos Teodosic in fourth place ever for career assists. He is one-point shy of the 10th place in the scoring list of all-time

Rodriguez was the 2013/14 season MVP, but he had never been named player of the month before. This is the second time an Olimpia player has won the trophy (the first was Mike James in February 2019). At this moment, Rodriguez is among the top 10 in seven statistical categories. He’s had a streak of 17 free throws made in a row that started last season in Moscow (he is 33rd of all time for free throws made). He has also climbed to the seventh place ever for three-pointers made in his career.
