Coach Luca Banchi spoke to the media after the Tel-Aviv loss closing the Olimpia’s Euroleague season: “First of all we want to congratulate Maccabi for another Final Four. Then I want to congratulate my players for a great Euroleague’s season, with 28 games, the last one consistent with the pattern we set. it was extraordinary to see our players coming into this building and playing with the right faces, the faces we showed all season long. We couldn’t extend the series but we got to be realistic: Maccabi was playing its ninth playoffs series in 10 years while we were at our first. Our goal right now is to keep reaching the playoffs, stay here, year after year. Finally I want to spend two words for our Captain, Alessandro Gentile, who couldn’t play the series because of an injury that kept him from the well-deserved right to play at this level”.
