Angelo Gigli is back in Milano


Angelo Gigli is back in Milano after a mid-season loan to Reggio Emilia. Gigli is a 31-year old center, 2.09 of height.

WHO’S – Angelo Gigli is a Roman born in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, where his family moved for working reasons. He grew up in Fortitudo Roma and was transferred to Reggio Emilia in 2001. With Reggiana, he won the A2 championship and in 2005 he helped his team to reach the Italy’s Cup final game against Treviso although because of an injury he couldn’t play the game. He scored 29 points against Reggio Calabria setting his career-high. In the summer of 2006 he was signed by Treviso where he stayed until 2008 winning a Supercup and an Italy Cup (2007). In 2008 he returned to Roma and stayed there three seasons. In 2011 he moved to Bologna for two more years and last season he started in Milano and finished in Reggio Emilia. With the Italian National team he has played the 2005 and 2007 European championships and the 2006 World Championship.

NOTES – In 2004/05 Gigli playing for Reggio Emilia averaged 10.9 points per game, his career-best, he averaged 10.2 the following season and was back to average in double digit in Bologna during the 2012/13 season… In 2011/12 he set his career-best in rebounding with 7.4… In his last Bologna’s season, Gigli converted 81.2% of his free throws, a career-best.. For his career he’s 62.5% from two… He played five Euroleague seasons with a career-high of 16 points scored against Zalgiris Kaunas when he was playing for Treviso. His personal-best is of 10 rebounds, set against Malaga when he played for Roma… He also played twice the Eurocup, in Reggio Emilia and Treviso and last year he won the Eurochallenge in Reggio Emilia.
