Angelo Gigli was forced to leave the National team early this week because of a slight injury to the left knee. Now he’s back in Milano to undergo the therapy necessary to fully recover. His situation will be re-evaluated early next week. In the meantime this is what he had to say to www.olimpiamilano.com

ABOUT MOVING TO MILANO – “This is a very ambitious club. Since I came here I felt in the air a great desire to win and build something very important, you feel it among the staff, the coaches, everywhere. But now it’s time to stop talking and start doing it on the court”.

ABOUT THE ROLE – “Obviously I’m ready to do whatever coach Luca Banchi is going to ask me. I know I’m going to play with great teammates and my time on the court will probably be considerably less than I was used to have the last couple of years in Bologna (over 27 minutes per game in average). However I feel I can really contribute to the team and I’ll be ready to go anytime”.

ABOUT THE EUROLEAGUE – “The Euroleague is a very fascinating competition. Our group is very tough but in this kind of competition you go against strong team, built to win, with great budgets and that’s just extra-motivation. Hopefully we’ll be fine.

ABOUT THE INJURY – “Injuries are part of the job, My injury is not even an injury, but with three days to go before the very first game it forced me to sit out. Obviously I’m very disappointed, I was part of the group but that’s life. Now I can focus on Milano”.
